News Media & Commentary

News Media and Commentary from a Christian Worldview

Christians are called to seek truth, reject falsehood, and exercise discernment. That includes the way we consume news and commentary.

News reporting is never completely separated from worldview. Journalists and editors make decisions about which stories to cover, which facts to emphasize, which questions to ask, which sources to trust, and how events should be interpreted. Christians therefore need more than a steady supply of information. They need biblical discernment.

The resources below include Christian news organizations, worldview commentary, radio programs, media-watch organizations, journalism training, and other sources that can help Christians understand current events and evaluate the ideas shaping our culture.

Biblical Principles for Evaluating Media

  • Truth matters. Christians are commanded to speak truthfully and reject false testimony. (Exodus 20:16; Ephesians 4:25)
  • We should seek understanding before reaching conclusions. (Proverbs 18:13)
  • We should not automatically believe everything we hear. (Proverbs 14:15; 1 Thessalonians 5:21)
  • Multiple witnesses and careful investigation matter. (Deuteronomy 19:15; Proverbs 18:17)
  • Our thinking should be transformed by God’s Word rather than by the patterns of the world. (Romans 12:2)
  • Christians should evaluate ideas, not merely repeat headlines. (2 Corinthians 10:5)
  • Our speech should be truthful, gracious, and edifying. (Ephesians 4:29; Colossians 4:6)
